Retries
Copy page
Which errors to retry, how long to wait and how to retry a request safely.
Retry only when the problem body's retryable is true, and wait longer after each try.
How to retryLink to this section
- Read
retryable. If it is false, the same call fails again until you change something. - Wait before retrying: honour the rate-limit headers when present, else back off exponentially with jitter, starting near one second.
- Stop after a few tries and report the
request_id.
Safe to repeatLink to this section
GET requests are safe to repeat. A non-idempotent request that accepts an Idempotency-Key header replays its first result when retried with the same key; a different body with the same key is refused with idempotency_key_reused. The definition shows which operations accept the header.
