# Test mode

How test keys and test tickets work, and the sample data they serve.

[Test mode](/glossary#test-mode) serves recorded sample data, so you can build against moving values without touching live data.

## Test keys

A test key starts with `kelly_test_`. It draws on its own allowance and reaches only the sandbox.

## Kelly Wire

A Wire ticket asked for with `mode` set to `test` streams a recorded NFL Sunday to any credential, on a loop, 10 times faster than it happened. A test key's tickets are always test tickets.

## Planned

A REST sandbox on the same recorded Sunday, with an input that triggers each error, is planned (P8, October 16, 2026).
