# Deprecation

How an operation or version is retired, and what happens today.

Nothing in the Kelly API is deprecated today, and only one version, `2026-10-05`, is served.

## When something is retired

A version or operation past its sunset date answers `410` with the code `version_sunset`, and the `Link` header names the version to move to. The [changelog](/changelog) announces each deprecation with its dates before it takes effect.

## Planned

Deprecation and sunset headers on responses, and a notice period for each change class, are planned with the compatibility policy's first retirement (P8, October 16, 2026).
