# Glossary

The terms these docs use, each defined once and linked from its first use on every page.

## As-of time
When a value was true, in the `as_of` field. For a derived value, the time of its newest input.

## Credit
The one unit Kelly meters: one cached engine read. Every operation has a whole-credit price, the same on every surface.

## Cursor
An opaque string in `next_cursor` that fetches the next page of a list. Send it back unchanged with the same filters.

## Delta
One change to a Kelly Wire topic, whose `seq` is the previous one plus one.

## Key scope
A permission an API key holds, such as `read:reference`. An operation that needs a scope the key lacks answers `insufficient_scope`.

## Problem details
The RFC 9457 error body every failed call returns, with a stable `code`.

## Provenance
Who produced a value and when it was true: the `source` and `as_of` every value carries.

## Request ID
The ID of one call, in the `Request-Id` header and in every error body. Quote it to support.

## Snapshot
A Kelly Wire topic's whole current state, with its last `seq`. It comes first after you subscribe, and again after a gap.

## Test mode
Keys and tickets that serve recorded sample data instead of live data.

## Ticket
A single-use credential that lives 60 seconds and opens one Kelly Wire connection or stream, so a long-lived key never goes in a socket URL.

## Topic
One stream of live values on Kelly Wire, such as one market or one game, named like `market:{market_id}`.
